DIRECTOR – CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES
This is a FULL-TIME, SALARIED position. This position is expected to work at least 40 hours per week toward the completion of the ministry tasks associated with this position. Any ministry hours outside those hours should be approved in advance by the Senior Pastor. The employee should ensure that appropriate time be given each week for family, growth, personal rest, and refreshment.
The Director of Children’s Ministries will report and be directly responsible to the Senior Pastor/Session andwill keep the Senior Pastor fully informed of the work, seek counsel and take instructions or corrections when necessary. This will primarily take place during a weekly scheduled staff meeting. The Director of Children’s Ministries will aid the Senior Pastor in the fulfilling of his oversight of the church’s vision and mission. This position will work closely alongside the family ministry team which includes the Director of Discipleship and the Director of Youth Ministries.

The Director of Children’s Ministries will be committed to the church’s vision of making disciples of Jesus Christ. This will be accomplished by being a welcome sight for the children and their families, along with other members as we teach them to know, love, and serve God and others.
This person will be able to help in the development and implementation of effective and quality children’s ministry programming and be able to work in the process of recruiting, equipping, and training volunteers for the work of ministry
EDUCATION:
This person would need to have a minimum of a high-school diploma (college or seminary degree preferred) or comparable/qualitative work experience, as well as possess a heart and passion for working with children and their families. Individuals pursuing their degree in children’s/family ministry/discipleship are welcome and encouraged to apply to this position.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
PRIMARY DUTIES
- This position will work in leadership alongside an established Children’s Ministry Council, made up of parents and volunteers, with regard to the implementation of the following Children’s Ministry Programming:
- Children’s Church (Preschool – 5th Grade): Coordinate curriculum, materials, and personnel coverage for two weekly Children’s Church services (Preschool, K-3 & 4-5th Grade Groups).
- Sunday Evening Children’s Choir and JAM (Jesus And Me): Lesson Planning, Set-Up Clean up, Food, Supplies
- Volunteer Schedules for Children’s Church, and JAM;
- Coordinate with Worship Deacon in scheduling volunteers for Nursery and Acolyte.Plan and coordinate Summer Weekday Field Trips for children
- Work alongside Campus Ministries, Worship, and Outreach Deacons in planning Holiday and Special Events including: Christmas Party, Easter Eggs-travaganza, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Trunk-orTreat, etc.
- Coordinate the planning and registration for summer children’s camp (been to Camp Caraway in the past)
- Assist Director of Discipleship and Development with Children’s Sunday School Administration – Curriculum, Supplies, Substitute teach, etc.
- Assist Deacon of Outreach with local Public School Partnerships (Teacher Appreciation, Student Needs, Special Events)
- Manage Children’s Check-In System (Recruit & Train Volunteers, Ensure technology updates)
- Serve as Liason between Director of Bethel Learning Center and Leadership of Bethel Church of Midland. The Bethel Learning Center (BLC) is a half-day preschool program for ages 2-5 and Homeschool Parent-Tutoring Partnership Program for grades K-8 owned and operated by Bethel Church of Midland.
- Chair and coordinate meetings of the BLC Board of Directors, who work in conjuction with The Bethel Learning Center Director, to oversee direction of program, curriculum, and to audit annual budget & finacnces.
- Be the primary information provider to the leadership of Bethel Church of Midland on matters concerning the BLC.
- Assist BLC Director in handling HR matters and parent communications as needed.
- Help coordinate and assist in any physical plant needs through church’s Property Management Committee.
- Assist BLC Director in ensuring compliance standards are met according to the church Safe Sanctuary Policy and Universal Abuse Provention Policy.
- Lead Chapel Service for Preschool and Elementary students at Bethel Learning Center (will coordinate with BLC Director on schedule)
- Perform other dutes as assigned by the Senior Pastor when particular needs may arise that pertain to adminstative, ministry, or church functions.
